The Académie Régionale des Sciences et Techniques de la Mer (ARSTM) is a premier regional training institution serving 15 Francophone countries in West and Central Africa. Based in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, ARSTM is a specialized body of the Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa (OMAOC). The institution’s strategic ambition is to be a global reference point for maritime, port, industrial, and offshore training, emphasizing excellence through practical learning facilities aligned with international standards.
ARSTM serves the broader maritime and industrial community by offering both initial professional education and modular continuing-training programs designed to meet the evolving needs of global maritime issues
Training Courses and Certifications
ARSTM offers a diverse range of maritime and industrial training programs, including:
- STCW Mandatory Certificates: Advanced Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Abandon Ship and Sea Survival, Elementary First Aid, and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR).
- Specialized Maritime: SMDSM / GMDSS, Tanker familiarization, Pollution Prevention modules, and ISPS-related security programs.
- Offshore & Industrial: Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET), Helideck Landing Officer (HLO), and Helicopter Rescue.
- Logistics & Port Management: Terminal Management, Dangerous Goods handling, and Stock/Logistics management.
These programs are designed to ensure compliance with international maritime safety rules while providing practical skills for offshore and port operations.
Class Schedules
ARSTM follows a structured academic year for its degree programs, while many professional continuing-training modules are delivered on-demand.
